People tell me how they cried while watching The Impossible, the movie about the family surviving the Tsunami. So I was fully prepared to cry my eyes out.
But, ladies and gentlemen, I, Angelicbug or also known as the "Waterworks" among my family, did not even shed a drop of tear.
It is official.
I am broken.

first trip
Our first trip for 2013.
Surat Thani - Krabi in March.
And for the first time, Ekiel is coming along.
*yay*
Now I just have to figure our way around.
And an elephant riding trip is a must.

tequila!
I know what I
want in life.
I just don’t
know how to make that happen.
At this age,
a change can be scary.
And the
thought of failing, is even scarier.
Especially
when there is an almost 8 year old who enjoys his McD, movies and arcade games.
However.
This is the
decision I made, the path I chose.
I always say
if life gives you lemon, make margaritas.
But who’s
bringing the tequila?

what?
Everything and
everyone is talking about marriage.
The gospel. Friend. Families. Movies. And Ekiel included.
The gospel. Friend. Families. Movies. And Ekiel included.
He surprised
me when he said he wants to get married at the age of 34.
And his menu
includes meehoon and fish balls.
*rolls eye*
He also told
me to marry a handsome man.
Like he will
marry a pretty girl so they can have cute babies.
If I can’t get one, I can always “do” something about it.
*faints*

Bluff
Among the many things I have wished and asked for, the
Universe decided to listen and combine my blabbing about editing my mobile
phone book and needing another clean slate.
“Universe, can’t you tell it was a bluff?”
I got my phone back. EVERYTHING but my photos (thankfully)
is gone. All the saved messages, my apps, the contact numbers that I kinda need
soon were gone. They didn’t even say goodbye.
And yes, I have mentally kicked myself in the arse for not “backing
up” my mobile.
One should
not take this kind of things lightly.
Lesson
learned. The hard way.
I am happy
about the phone but sad that within my two weeks missing, I did not get a single
sms nor missed calls.
So I am
going to pretend, that this is the Universe’s way of telling me go out and meet
new people.
You know what Universe?

technology detox
After more than a week my mobile went immobile, I am beginning to
think that I am insignificant after all. No one attempted to contact me via
other channel of communication to see whether I am alive, or if I am okay or if
I have eloped to a foreign country somewhere.
Sure, my family and colleagues see me every day.
But what about the rest?
Don’t they miss me?
Don’t they like me?
Maybe they know I am capable of taking care of myself.
Or maybe, because I am not the type to “keep in touch” so this
“disappearance” is normal for them.
*wonders*
Oh well.
Maybe I should delete some of the phone numbers I have in my phone
book anyway. Pretty sure at least 1/4 of those numbers are invalid by now. (^_^;)
Why do I keep those numbers I never called after all this year is
beyond me as well.
Emergency purposes? (^o^)
The first few days were tough.
It felt like I lost a friend.
Someone who’ll entertain me when I am bored.
Someone whom I can turn to when I have questions.
It’s lame and even Ekiel notices it.
“Mommy, you look miserable without your HP”.
Now, I still feel miserable.
Ekiel is annoyed as I would call out for him every few minute to
entertain me. (^__^)
I need to
find a new hobby said the boy who whines about boredom (no Ipad as my brother
is out of town) and ended up laying on the floor singing to himself while
patting his tummy last night.
I think we need to detox ourselves.

Rubber Industry
I am usually not one to be dumbfounded when asked or
shared weird questions or statements. I would usually “punch” back with sarcasm
or humour. But that day, that day was one of those days where I was truly taken
aback. Not only I did not anticipated the question, but I was very much
uncertain on how to handle the matter *ahem* professionally in front of my
colleagues.
It was a luncheon with two Korean men who were at
work for site inspection. One of the guys Mr P was more outspoken and comical
while the other, Mr L was more reserved. I am not sure what sort of impressions
they have on us local, but judging from the conversation, they were very
comfortable to talk and show “personal” things.
Mental, but whatever.
However, when I was busy promoting our local
products, Mr P asked me about the rubber industry which I replied that rubber
is one the nation’s biggest income. [I must admit I do not know this for a
fact]. Then he asked me if Malaysian rubber is good. I of course replied, yes,
we produce the best rubber. [Again, zero for my general knowledge but ten
points for patriotism?].
He then asked me, “The latex? Is it good?
I thought I misheard him because of his slang.
”What is?” I asked.
“The latex? Is it good? Have you tried them?” he
asked.
Everyone at the table kept quiet and looked at me.
Had any of my guy friends asked me that question, I
would knock their head silly and replied with absurd questions like, “Why? Have
you not tried one before?” But under this circumstance, I really didn’t know
what to say.
So I politely nod my head and drink my Chinese Iced
Tea for cover. I don’t even know why I nodded my head but it seems to be my current
“defence mechanism” when want to avoid awkward situation (T.T) And to think I’ll
be 35 this year. *sighs*
Was it cultural differences or Mr P was just a very
straightforward man? I’ll just remember not to talk about the rubber industry
anymore.

so far...
I commented
about the mushy NY resolutions I read on my FB wall.
I have
nothing against resolutions except for the fact that I never actually achieve
any of them and thus am never bothered to make a list anymore.
Well the
mushy stuff makes me gag, but knowing more than half of those statuses are
bullshit makes me want to vomit blood.
But hey, if
it makes them happy then I’ll just roll my eyes silently.
It is only
the fourth and already my 2013 gone cuckoo.
My mobile
decided to go into a coma.
Yesterday, I
was in the toilet at work when I heard someone came in and did her business no
2. I was washing my hands when I heard her mumbling and suddenly, her door was
opened. I freaked out when I saw an elderly Korean lady with her pants down
sitting at the toilet bowl through the mirror. She just smiled and spoke to me
in Korea.
If life was
a movie, there will be a subtitle bubble above her head which says, “I am
sorry. I was doing my business and I just realized there is no tissue paper in
this stall. Can you get me some?”
Anyway, I do
not need to know Korean to understand her. But for some reason, I keep bowing
to her apologetically and handed her the tissue. I think I was more embarrassed
than her.
Oh 2013.
What are you doing?

sour faces
Why do
people always lose their cool and common sense during the holidays?
They can look forward to the season the whole year, and spoils it with their mood swings.
And it is my fault for losing my head because of them.

And it is my fault for losing my head because of them.
I’ll try
harder next time.

Pooped.
While I was
putting on makeup for work this morning.
EK: Mommy,
when you were in primary school, was CL5 (my youngest sis) in kindergarten?
Me: No.
EK: Then in
Mama’s tummy?
Me: No. Mama have not bought CL5 from the supermarket yet.
EK: Mommy, I know there is no supermarket. The stomach makes the baby and the mommy poops the baby out.
Me: No. Mama have not bought CL5 from the supermarket yet.
EK: Mommy, I know there is no supermarket. The stomach makes the baby and the mommy poops the baby out.
Me:
*chuckles* Poops? Who told you this?
EK: My friend.
EK: My friend.
Me: How he
knows the babies were pooped?
EK: He knows, because he is the smartest boy in my class.
EK: He knows, because he is the smartest boy in my class.
So, I am not
the only one who fabricates “baby” stories huh?

Marital Status
One of the inappropriately
yet frequently asked questions is,
“Are you
married?” or “Is she/he married?”
Like,
When someone
passed away, most people would ask, “Is the deceased married?”
When you
comment about someone b****y, “Is that person married?”.
When you
complained about someone who is giving you a hard time, “Is that person married?”.
When someone isn't behaving with the opposite sex, “Is that person married?”.
Seeing you
walking around with any kids, "Are you married?"
Heck, even
when I told the doctor I am experiencing abdominal pain, he asked me if I am
married.
And the unfortunate
thing is some people tend to use your marital status to determine the kind of
person you are.
A divorced
woman will try and “steal” your man away.
Single women after 40 will turn temperamental.
Women who do not marry are too choosy.
Single women after 40 will turn temperamental.
Women who do not marry are too choosy.
Or like what
I recently heard, women who do not marry are actually mean and horrible people
who are paying for their karma.
Silliness is
them.

Midlife Crisis
They laughed and called me silly.
Here I am, really worried about my “situation” and they think I am
being dramatic.
Can’t a 34
year old woman experience a mid-life crisis?
According to the good ol’ Wpedia,
Midlife crisis is a term coined in 1965 by Elliot Jaques stating a
time where adults come to realize their own mortality and how much time is left
in their life. A midlife crisis is experienced by many people during the
midlife transition when they realize that life may be more than halfway over.
Sometimes, a crisis can be triggered by transitions experienced in these years,
such as andropause or menopause, the death of parents or other causes of grief,
unemployment or underemployment, realixing that a job or career is hated but
not knowing how else to earn an equivalent living, or children leaving home.
People may reassess their achievements in terms of their dreams. The result may
be a desire to make significant changes in core aspects of day-to-day life or situation,
such as in career, work-life balance, marriage, romantic relationships, large
expenditures, or physical appearance.
And since I am some-what an “old soul”, it is only natural for my “midlife
crisis” episodes to come early no?
No matter how I prepped talk myself, it is difficult for me to just
bounce back to my annoying self. I keep
telling myself my infamous lines “Do what
makes you happy” or “Forget and move on”, well, it is easier said than done.
*rolls eyes* A role model I am not.
My dad is right. I am a very stubborn person.
So right now, I am searching for the solution to world peace, because
that would be an easier task. As well as Christmas tips, etc. Inspired by the
word “Quirky” which most of the contestants in some top model do not
understand *boo*, I am still determined to make this year’s Christmas the best ever.

Can you hear what I hear?
Yes, the
Christmas bells are pealing.
*Yay*
Just what I needed.
A distraction.
A distraction.
A holiday would be better, but I decided
to have an AWESOME Christmas this year instead.
Life is short. We need to CREATE
good memories no?
Yes, I will try not to be hangat-hangat tahi ayam.
I was at the Hitz.FM Birthday
Invasion last week. I felt really bad about Ekiel missing Greyson Chance’s
showcase the other time, so I managed to get some tickets and persuade the
sister to drive us there. I was happy to see other parents waiting patiently
for their kids, outside and inside the concert ground. Some parents were even dancing to Jakeman
towards the end of the concert.
Surprisingly, Ekiel did not enjoy
himself one bit. He complained the music was too loud and the girls next to us
were annoying. They were. Like MTV kids gone mental.
The saddest thing was he just stood
there all grumpy, and even disapproved my dancing with his evil eye. He said “Don’t
be stupid Mommy!”
Wait till he starts clubbing, I am
so going to give him hell.
** I just found out that my parents
want to “match make” one of my brothers with their friend’s daughter.
“Why they no match make me and my single sisters?”

Gayang Seafood
With my
mom’s allergy to seafood and dad’s barely-there cooking skills, we took dad out
for some serious seafood binging the moment mom went out of town.
All my life,
I had only been to five seafood restaurants here in KK. Sad but true. So when
my brother recommended Gayang, we agreed. He assured us the drive wasn’t that
long.
A short
drive would be nice I thought.
First of
all, my sudden runny nose was a pain. Then it rained. Heavily. The short drive
was anything but short plus my sister somehow got lost so we had to make an
ever longer drive. Like Ekiel said, why did we drive to the end of the road
just to have crabs?
Now, when we
finally reached the restaurant around 6.45pm, the place was super packed.
Because I was nicely sneezing away, I didn’t go ohhh and ahhh over the
aquariums with the fresh “dinner”. I did manage to order my Kam Heong mud crab in between my sniffs
because a lot of blogs gave it a thumbs up.
Service was
not their biggest plus point.
-
They do not clear the mess the moment the guests
left the tables
-
We had to find an empty table on our own
-
We were seated for almost 30-min without anyone
taking our order for drinks, nor set the table with cutleries
-
Due to whatever service system they were using
guests who came later was served first
-
The no smiling staffs get another two points
deduction
The good
things.
-
Plenty of parking
-
They take your order before you even find yourself
a table
-
The bill comes immediately after you ask for
them J
My family
are not really adventurous when it comes to food. My son didn’t even want to
try any of the dishes so we had to order omelette for him.
Kam Heong
Mud Crab
1kg – RM30
(4 medium-sized crabs)
There was a
lot of curry taste going on for my liking. But the crab was meaty and sweet.
Buttered
Milk Prawn
1kg – RM35 (Medium-sized
prawns more than enough for 5 persons)
I imagine
buttered prawn should be salty but this dish was sweet. The prawns were
definitely fresh.
Battered Soft
Shell
1kg – RM50
(4 medium-sized crabs)
This was my
favourite. The taste was just right and the crunch was just perfect.
Sabah
Vegetable with Egg
RM8 per
plate (Enough for 5 persons)
Wasn’t the
best I ever had but it was good
They also
served coconut pudding (chargeable) for dessert.
One thing to do is check your bills before paying. I’m sure it was
just human error but they charged us for peanuts and fruit pickles which we
didn’t get.
Opens daily
from 11am to 10pm.
