One of the chatters in a chat channel says Farhan could never be an artist because she doesn’t have the package. Farhan has one of the best vocal in all the AF combined. The chatter might as well just truthfully say he/she doesn’t think Farhan is pretty enough because he/she is shallow and would only listen to pretty singers even if that pretty singer couldn’t sing to save his/her life.
It’s difficult to share what I think because in some weird way, it will come back to me on a personal level. Some would say I take it personally because I am fighting my own battle, the battle of the not-good-looking-people. A personal experience that took me a long time to recover.
I am not blessed with flawless skin, beautiful straight teeth, healthy hair, perfect figure, etc. Unfortunately I grew up in a society that worships physical beauty. It’s even more difficult when you are surrounded by beautiful people. I grew up hating everything about me and I secretly wish I was beautiful too.
As a young girl who dreams of happily ever after, I seriously think being plain looking was the reason for all the miseries in my life. There were no secret admirers, no dates, nothing. All the guys I used to have crushes at have crushes on my beautiful friends instead. And if that isn’t torturous enough, someone whom I thought was my good friend told me I will not have to worry because the guy we both (and a few other) like at that time will never pick me. She on the other hand is worried because she is among the pretty ones and the guy will only pick a pretty chick as his gf.
I could list a few more of incidents that made me feel like shit, but this isn’t really about me. Though I must admit, even as an adult I still find myself trapped in these circumstances. My ex-boss telling me to lose weight, I was rejected for a job in the beauty industry because I don’t fit their “criteria”, my friend telling me she is prettier than I am, etc. Even in my current working place, I found out in their assessment during the interview, there was a section where the interviewer has to fill about our physical look. I was rated okay looking. Ha.
That’s reality.
When I comment about the shallowness and the silliness of this whole physical thing, a guy laughed at me saying I criticize only because I am not good looking. I want the world to change their perspective so that I would feel good about myself.
I think and I think hard.
Perhaps there is some truth in that.
I want men to write poetry/song about me and declare I am more beautiful than the moon at night. I want secret admirers. I want men to worship the ground I walk on. I want to have all the advantages a beautiful woman has. I want to know how beautiful feels like.
I also admit I too love pretty and beautiful things. I drool over good looking men. I want a handsome hubby and good looking kids.
BUT I am a bigger fan of talent, kindness, love, passion, humility and sincerity. The inner beauty. The X factor.
Physical beauty is a plus. Besides there is always makeover. *wink* We have unlimited resources of beauticians, hairstylists, fashion consultants and the list goes on and on.
So to that chatter, you can find beautiful women every day, everywhere. But how often can you find real talent?
Fyi, I do not have a self-esteem issue, well not anymore. I have learned to love myself as I am. The hard way.

why I think some people need to get a new hobby.
Call me Kat.
Call me Kitty Kat.
*purr*
The Wedding Crasher.
Hee.
Feeling a lot better today.
I DO TRY to be more positive in life.
It’s tiring.
So once in a while I let myself sink in my frustration.
Not that I will slit my wrist or anything idiotic.
*rolling eyes*
All I do is complain and complain.
Sometimes all I need is a good cry.
A night out with my girls is therapeutic, but I don’t get to do that anymore.
Now, I only shake my booty with my baby
That boy sure can dance.
Few days ago, some people voiced out their concerns about Malaysia’s unique cultures, the Kongsi Raya and the Open House.
Something about attending another religious ceremony, and how it is contradicting the teaching of a certain religion.
First of all, I have great respect for ALL religion because each religion promotes goodness and kindness.
It’s the people who screw up.
I just don’t understand how some people can come up with this kind of thing.
I don’t know which open houses they went, but the ones that I’ve been to have no religious ceremony going on, only lots and lots of food.
No religion would allow their devotees to attend another religion’s religious ceremony.
If there is such a thing happening, I am very sure the whole Open House concept will never be adopted by any of us anyway.
Not everyone is ignorant, you know.
Kongsi Raya only means you celebrate two different festivals at the same time.
I really do not see what the big deal.
Isn’t this “Kongsi Raya” an advertising/marketing gimmick by companies to save their advertising/marketing cost during the festival season? Why make two advertisements when you can combine them?
I seriously cannot see the problem.
*Hmmm*
I applaud the PM’s stand on this matter.
Malaysia would lose one of its biggest trademarks if they decided to scrap the Kongsi Raya and Open House culture.
We host/go open houses to show our gratitude and love to our family, neighbor and friends.
Like PM say, it’s a social gathering.
To meet and catch up.
Our life are taken over by work and technology; most of the time we only call/sms/chat/email to say hie and all.
We hardly spend time together as a community anymore.
Few times a year, we gather to celebrate our uniqueness.
We respect each other’s beliefs and we wish each other well.
Other country applauds us for our unity and understanding, and here we have certain people who blindly make statements without really understanding what is happening.
Well, I say if they think is wrong then tell them to lock themselves at home whenever someone is having an open house.
No one force them to go anyway.
I wonder what else will these people come up with the next time.
Call me Kitty Kat.

A LONG day
Today I woke up with my son rubbing his face against me.
For a one-year old, my baby has stinky morning breath.
Hee.
It was no Hallmark moment.
He was just hungry and he needed me to make his bottle.
Oh well.
He used to pinch me on the face or pull my hair.
I think the constant screaming taught him to be more tactful.
I love those mornings we spend together.
Rolling around the bed.
Making faces.
Laughing out loud.
It rained heavily this morning.
In my world, I would have gone back to bed and forget about everything else.
Reality is never like that.
Had to drag myself to work, only to be greeted by temperamental colleagues and loads of work.
Someone woke up at the wrong side of the bed and out to spoil everybody else’s day.
I got tons of work to do BUT I have no idea what or how or why.
When asked for instructions, everyone has gone deaf.
When I refer to the boss, everyone is not happy.
You complain too much work; I ended up with them.
I complain too much work; I still have to finish them.
Maybe this is just a bad dream.
Today is one of those days.
I am exhausted.
I try and I try.
It is still not enough.
My throat still hurting.
My head still aching.
My heart still bleeding.
I need to go look for that rainbow.
The one that comes out after the rain.
For a one-year old, my baby has stinky morning breath.

I am no Simon Cowell
Demam AF?
Me?
*whistles*
I blame my family for the addiction.
My life was peaceful before they force AF3 into my life.
Though I find AF4 pretty boring, I still need to know what are they up to and what songs are they singing for that week.
*tsk tsk tsk*
My greatest weakness is my need to know how the story ends.
Let me do my version of AF4 review on the students.
Lotter. He is a good performer but his vocal still needs A LOT of training. His strength lies in his passion to learn and his sincerity to perform. His simple and playful nature gives him the likeable factor that some students are lacking. He will have a future in the acting business. I just hope they will not exploit him as another slapstick comedian.
Diddy. He has that big vocal that I like in men. Like every other student he could sing but he doesn’t have anything unique that set him apart from the other student. He has the look and the height but he doesn’t use it to his advantage. In fact, his slouch-ness only makes his performances look awkward.
Faizal. I never realized how good his vocal is until the first concert. I say he has the best vocal among all the male students. Didn’t notice earlier because I didn’t like his insecure and “trying to be cute” character. I personally feel he lacks emotion in his singing that makes his performance a bit boring. He needs to be more relaxed and confident His dancing kinda reminded me of Spongebob Square Pants. You know the stiff body with the flailing arms and legs. Hee.
Haziq. His sensitivity is driving me crazy. If you listen carefully, he has a pretty good vocal but his character overshadows it. He doesn’t seem to mix well with the other students. He cries too much. He needs to be more versatile in his genre of music. He must stop “meng-asli-kan” everything. After the first two show off, it becomes annoying.
Amirul. He has the soft and gentle kind of voice only suitable for certain kind of songs. But that is no excuse for the poor performances. His pretty boy look is his advantage but he needs to learn to control his emotions. There’s a fine line between “manja” and a crybaby. I think he would do better if he were a part of a boy band. Here’s an idea. Why don’t Amirul and Daniel of MI2 get together and form a new boy band? Maybe they can do another reality show to find the rest of the boy band members. *grinning*
Rich. He needs to be more enthusiastic and passionate about the competition. I like it when Rich has to hit the high notes in his singing. Otherwise, his vocal is only average. For someone who already has two albums out (though he was in a band), his performance and showmanship SHOULD be better compared to the other students. Unfortunately he doesn’t take advantage of his experience.
Farhan. I love her big vocal. I also like it when she adds her own style to the song, you know those “power punches” in her singing. She still lacks emotions in her singing. Is she controlling herself or is that the real her? During her performances, I wonder if she is actually enjoying herself. I think it’s nice of her to play the big sister role, but everything about her screams “boring”. She needs to loosen up a little.
Salima. The attention is on her for the obvious reason. She is too confident of herself considering her vocal is only average. Sometimes her outspoken behavior is almost rude. She is a Drama Queen using her tears to get attention. I mean if you are upset about anything, you would normally do it in your own time and space, and not in front of the whole world kan? I believe everyone could be great if given the chance but do we really want someone with an attitude problem?
Zila. Her high pitch vocal is her gift. I like her sweet personality and her smiles. Her insecurity and lack of enthusiasm are her weaknesses. Zila is another student who holds back in her performance. She needs to learn to control her nervousness because it is shown through her eyes.
Velvet. She has one of the best vocals this season. A happy go lucky character and she didn’t let those uncalled for comments on her weight get to her. Though her singing was brilliant I still feel she needs to be more expressive through her eyes and gestures to make her performance more powerful.
Karen. She definitely stood out among the crowd. I think she is brave for trying to compete in a malay/bumiputra-dominated competition. She has a good vocal and with a lot of training and guidance she will definitely take her place in the music industry.
Nora. To me, Nora is forgettable. I only remember her as the emotional and camera-crazy chick. Her vocal is average and her performance was boring. She also has insecurity problems and she didn’t look like she belongs in AF4.
There you go. I try to be subjective, as I understand the fact that different people have different opinion. I think Faizal, Farhan, Velvet and maybe Diddy deserves to be in the finals. Unfortunately, we all know the voting pattern and it would not be a surprised if only one out of the four is in the finals.

hot sun, air-conditioned room and heavy rain.
My throat hurts.
My head hurts.
I wish I were at home.
Been busy coping with everything.
Had the orientation thingy last week.
My old work place, orientation was more about liquor and getting sick.
Here, I had to memorize everything about the organization,
while them treating us like we’re three. Ha.
Met many kind of characters at the orientation.
There are those whom I applaud for their warmth, dedication and teamwork.
There are those whom I want to kick their arse for their stubbornness and idiocy.
I kinda lost my temper at the last day of the orientation.
It is very difficult to work with people who think they are right all the time.
I have no intention of taking charge.
I just want everyone to participate.
It pisses me off when no one wants to take the responsibility when something goes wrong.
Anyway, it is over and hopefully I won’t ever have to work with “those” people ever again.
Then we finally had Ekiel’s birthday celebration.
Had it together with Mom’s birthday.
It was a simple celebration with a lot of makan.
And I really mean A LOT of makan.
By Sunday, I was having flu, sore throat and a headache.
Too much hot sun, air-conditioned room and heavy rain.

it's my money and I'll vote if I want too
Everyone is a critique.
Almost all local blogs talks about AF4.PERSONALLY, I think some of the critiques are justified.
But some are just insulting not only to the contestants BUT to their supporters as well.
Unfortunately this is a free country, and some people do voice out their opinion without using their head.
Though I very much try not to get involve, but hey, I am a critique too. :P
First of all, I think it is sad out of the 7,000 (or so they say) hopefuls, the twenty contestants they picked for the Prelude Concert only has so-so vocals. If these are the best of out of the whole audition, I can only imagine what the rest sound like. (I don’t watch the audition process).
Out of the twenty, there are four contestants whom I think with the right training has the potential to become a good recording artiste. Out of the four, only three were chosen for the top twelve.
Many were unhappy with the result. Unhappiness leads to criticism and accusation. I was taken aback when some bloggers/chatters commented about the four Sabahan students in the top twelve. While I do agree that Astro is taking advantage of Sabahan who loyally vote for the Sabahan students, I am unhappy when they’re making fun of us.
Many accuse Sabahan as kenegerian, but we all know Sabahan are not the only one who is devoted to the people from their own state. Why put the blame on us only? Are they intimidated by our support through the sms vote? Though I don't vote but my family does.
There are not many Sabahan artists in Malaysia’s music industry. Is it wrong to support a fellow Sabahan in making their dream come true? It’s not like we’re supporting someone who has no talent at all. They’re talented and are eager to learn. I admit other students are talented as well, but we understand the Sabahan students better because we talk the same slang and we come from the same background.
Like Mawi, I do understand the craze but many Sabahan do not understand nor enjoy the kind of music Mawi sings beautifully. See the problem? Cultural differences. Some people made fun of Marsha when she sang the “Jambatan Tamparuli”, but to us it was awesome because she was singing “our” song.
You make fun of our slang, but you want to talk like us. Some say we Sabahan still live in the cave and we have no other form of entertainment besides AF. Well my dear, we may still live in the cave but we can afford to subscribe to Astro and vote for our favorite students year after year. HA. Who’s laughing now?
I will blog my comments on the contestants next.
Now, I am going to watch the first concert repeat show with my parents.
I want to see what they think.

What's the fuss Leonardo?
Happy Kaamatan to all fellow Sabahan.
Aramaitii!!!
2 days of public holiday. It’s not enough if you ask me. Hee.
I finally read The Da Vinci Code.
Honestly, I don’t see what the fuss is about.
People would not just give up their belief overnight over a book.
If they do, then they do not have faith in their religion in the first place.
People are only afraid of things they cannot understand.
Me? I am simply curious.
Sure I googled The Last Supper and The Madonna on the Rocks paintings.
I study both pictures to find out how they conclude their theories.
What did I find?
When you believe in something, you will see/hear what you want to believe.
It’s as simple as that.
Everyone loves a conspiracy.
Except my dad.
I would love to hear what my dad think about the book.
(My dad is a very devout Catholic)
He felt asleep reading the first two pages.
*grinning*
I still prefer my Harry Potter books. :P

The Umbrella, The Heels and The Show-Offs
Yesterday was the day a good friend of mine got hitch. :D*clap clap clap* Congratulations to both you and you hubby.
May you live happily ever after.
Imelda, you looked absolutely gorgeous.
You so deserve all the happiness in the world.
And I know you are happy, you were glowing so beautifully last night.
*hugs & kisses*
To her hubby, don’t you dare go breaking her heart.
If you do, then you better hope to never see me again.
*looking brutal* Hee.
The night was memorable.
There was that incident with the malfunctioned umbrella.
*LOL*
Pouring heavily, umbrella opened the other way, friend trying to hide (her body in the car, umbrella sticking out) from everyone while holding on to the malfunctioned umbrella.
Then we have the high heel incident.

I am not gonna mentioned who (she would kill me if I do) but somebody’s heel gave up on her while she was walking on the red carpet.
Hehehe. It was pretty funny.
She called out to me discreetly.
Then she asked, “Can you please pick up my shoe for me?”
I was a little blur when she looked down, and I looked down.
There it was the highest pair of heels I’ve seen. Well, what was left of it anyway. (see pic)
Thank goodness for the extra pair of heels.
Imagine going around bare footed when you already all dressed/dolled up.
I wanted to keep the umbrellas we were carrying together with the other umbrellas at the corner of the lobby. Me, being SO smart, wanted to put it against the wall because I was afraid someone might take it. Hee. Before I know it, the whole stack of umbrellas was on the floor. Tried to restack it again but it was a crazy night and the stack was just impossible to redo. We left the umbrellas scattered on the floor. *whistles*
Food was served. Speeches were made. Toasts were toasted. Pictures were taken.
Then we say goodnight.
It was a simple event but it was a happy one.
I met some friends from high school whom I haven’t met since that last day of school.
People changed.
I know that.
But, I was still surprised to see the changes.
How success, marriage – being married puts you above the rest meh?, and your new circle of friends can change you.
I am glad some of us have not changed that much.
Maybe we don’t look so young and innocent anymore.
But in the inside we are still that same girl who loves life and able to laugh about everything and even at ourselves.
I miss that the most.
(see pic in photo album - Imelda's Wedding)
the moral of the story is.
I begin to think the root to most problems is miscommunication.
And when miscommunication happens, no one bothers to clear up the confusion.
*rolling eyes*
There could be thousands of excuses for the "don't care" attitude.
Envy, resentfulness, laziness, retaliation, just for the sake of it...
I couldn't think of the thousand excuses NOW, but I am sure there is that many.
By now everyone knows how I feel about Common Sense.
If these people would just practice some common sense in their life,
I am very VERY sure the world would be a happier place.
Even if we hate/dislike/unhappy with our job,
we still need to take the initiative to at least be somewhat efficient.
Work is work. Personal feelings SHOULD be put aside.
(Easier said than done - I KNOW)
I also know how frustrating it is to work with overbearing higher-ups.
Been there. Done that. Back in that dump again.
We could be great, but these people choose to be "as long the job is done".
That is not even average.
Marriage that just focuses on sexual needs (Borneo Post - 27 May 2006, Front Page) Kuala Lumpur: A university professor has suggested that men in Malaysia practice Misyar marriage to overcome the rising number of unmarried divorcees and women.
Utusan Malaysia, reporting on its front page, quoted Universiti Malaya's Islamic Academic Studies lecturer Prof Datuk Dr Mahmud Zuhdi Abdul Majid as saying that this type of wedding could also reduce the incidence of vice among Muslim women.
He said the difference between Misyar and a polygamous marriage was that the husband did not have to provide money or clothing for his other wife but only be there to provide for her sexual needs.
Dr Mahmud Zuhdi said this wedding is popular in the Middle East involving rich women who had difficulty looking for a life partner.
He added that even renowned Islamic ulama Dr Yusuf al-Qardawi in his edict said Misyar is legal as it could solve the problems of unmarried women or divorcees.
The practice is allowed and deemed to be necessary by several ulamas in some countries in the Middle East.
The Misyar marriage came into the picture after several groups urged the Fatwa Council to study if it could be implemented in Malaysia, according to him.
He said such a marriage should be practiced in this country, as there is a rising number of unmarried women or divorcees.
Unbelievable.
Maybe I misunderstood the "good intention" of these people.
BUT,
Are we (women) really that weak/pathetic?
Is the single or divorced status amongst women is a bad label?
What sort of vice are they saying happening among the Muslim women?
(if it is what I assume it is, why blame the women only? It takes two to tango and do many other things).
Isn't it just legalized sex?
Wouldn't it increase the numbers of divorce rates?
Let's be honest, once you're bored with the sex,
what else do you have to keep the relationship going?
Chances are, you will begin to look for a "new" partner because we are all human and because the law says we can scratch our "itch" in a legal way. HA.
No matter how noble the intention is, someone will definitely take advantage of the circumstances.
I am afraid, instead of being a solution, this proposal will be a cause for another social problem in our society.
If other country practices it, it doesn't mean we should too. Isn't this what we preach about the western influences and all? :P

treat me like s*** will you?
An idiot would always be an idiot.
Remember the woman at the Maybank counter? I went back last Wednesday as per my appointment, and she still pisses me off.
Though I was the second customer queuing up at the front counter, she told me to wait while she distribute the “formal” queuing number and also directing everyone to wherever they’re suppose to go.
Finally she finished doing what she was doing and she then ask me (again!) whether I have an appointment. No, I am just standing here right next to your counter because I love you so much. HA. I told her yes I do at 9.15am today. She then asked me again if I have an appointment. I told her yes I do at 9.15am. Then she ask me if it’s today (Wednesday). I told her yes today. She then looked at me, and asked me AGAIN if it’s today. I wanted to throttle her so badly.
First of all, the date and time of the appointment was written in the form she was holding and reading through. Secondly, she was just irritating and rude. I was so frustrated; I raised my voice and told her YES IT IS TODAY UNLESS TODAY IS NOT WEDNESDAY! She then directed me to a counter where the counter guy was so much nicer and friendlier.
That woman should do filing jobs where she doesn’t need to interact with another human being. Btw, I wasn’t the only one who was upset with her kay. Some guy even demanded to see the manager. I should have done the same, but I didn't want to inconvenience anybody. :P
Then later, a manager in the office was pissing me off too. He wanted some things from the store room and I had to take it for him. I usually use the back door which was next to the ladies because it was so much nearer to the store room. I have to walk around the office if i were to go through the main door. He saw me going to the back and he asked me why am I going to the ladies when I should be going to the store room instead. He had this look on his face as if I was stoopid or something. I told him I’m using the back door. He said fine, do what you think you're doing and he ROLLED HIS EYES. Wtf? Eh hello, he obviously didn’t know where to store room is and I am gonna SO NOT going to walk the long way to get the books for him.
When I should obviously throw the books at him, I told him to let me know if he needs anything else instead. *Arggghh* My attempt to “kiss his arse” was taking too much energy. I cannot do all this sucking up thingy.
My headaches are back. It wasn’t as bad as before but I do still feel very awful.
On 23 May 2006, a good friend of mine, Tara gave birth to a lovely baby girl - Kendra Faith Morris. Nice name kan? She is the fairest baby I have ever seen with dimples some more. So precious! It is Tara’s first child and watching her that day reminded me what I was feeling and experiencing exactly a year ago. It was just beautiful.
I wish I will get to experience it again. The proper way, of course. Once bitten, twice die larr.

Happy Birthday To You
Happy Birthday To You, Happy Birthday To you,
Happy Birthday To Ekiel,
Happy Birthday To You.
You’re one today. *clap clap clap*
It feels like it was only yesterday when I had you.
The two-day contraction, the pushing and the labor pain.
The fear when I didn’t hear you cry and the doctors rushed you out.
The joy to know you were okay despite the complications.
You were beautiful.
Huge almond-like eyes.
A cone-shaped head.
Ten little fingers.
Ten little toes.
And still is.
If I wasn’t sure before,
I knew at that moment that everything will be okay.
Even if it’s just the two of us.
I love you with all my being.
I wish I could give you the world.
I wish I could protect you from the things you have to go through.
I pray that you will have the wisdom and the courage to understand.
I pray that your life is filled with many blessings and happiness always.
Happy birthday little boy.
You have made me a very proud mommy.
Just try to behave a little okay?

give me the patience....
It’s raining outside.
If only I didn’t have to work tomorrow.
*sigh*
Is it just me or is someone out there is trying to test my sanity and patience?
After two weeks of work, I FINALLY went to do the medical check-up thingy and open a bank account with Maybank.
Since I don’t drive and my dad doesn’t do chauffeuring, last Sunday I had to take the bus to Api-Api Centre where the clinic is. It was the hottest day of the week, and I dragged myself all the way to the clinic only to be told by a R-U-D-E nurse the doctor is not in for the day. 24 hour clinic with no doctor – great! I asked her what happens when there is an emergency. She told me to come back the next day. I dragged myself back home.
How can I not get so irritated?
This morning (Monday), I went to the clinic and (Had to plead with my dad to drive me around) it only took me 15 minutes to get it all done. *rolls eyes* Btw, the toilet was a shame. Gross. *Yuck!* It’s a clinic for goodness sake. Someone didn’t bother to aim. WTF? *Sheesh*
Since we were super duper early, we waited for 45 minutes for the bank to open.
While waiting, my dad was walking around the entrance hall like he was the big boss or something. He went to inspect all the posters, notices and what not. He went and busybody at the ATM machines place. He even chit-chat with the security guards, asking them how was work and all. Hee. All those years he was just my boring and old-fashioned dad. Today, I saw a different side of him and I know I will remember and appreciate that moment forever.
Finally the bank opens. Went to the counter and some rude and idiotic woman told me I need to make an appointment to open an account with them. WTF? Since when? I told her my office didn’t tell me about this. She ignored me. SHE DIDN’T EVEN BOTHER TO HELP ME MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Stoopid bi***! Luckily there was another young lady at the counter who helped me set the appointment.
I don’t understand why you need to make an appointment? Why are they limiting themselves to a number of customers who opens an account in one day? They’re making too much money already is it? Dang.
Anyway, I just want to point out that there is something seriously not right with our service industry. The way they handled their customers (me!) are just plain rude and not helpful. THEY DIDN’T EVEN BOTHER TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCES. So difficult ka to say:
“I am sorry but you need to make an appointment to open a bank account. Can I help you to make an appointment now? Thank you”
”I am sorry but the doctor won’t be in today. Can I help to set up an appointment for you tomorrow? Thank you”
I try so hard to please and be polite to my customers. But these people? And I wasn’t even trying to be anything but nice to them. When I am given that kind of treatment, of course I retaliate and become a bi*** myself. So am I being a difficult customer?
Maybe I wasn’t rich looking enough for them to kiss my arse? All these double standards is just stupid.
If only I didn’t have to work tomorrow.

I want to vomit blood
“I want to vomit blood”. A phrase I used to laugh at, but that is how I feel today.
*sigh*
I found out Elliot was voted off from AI5. *sob sob* They chose a guy who is possessed by an unknown being every time he is on stage and a girl with an attitude problem and weird body movements/languages. If I have to choose, I will choose the “Soul Patrol” definitely. At least he doesn’t butcher the songs by doing too much just because she can do all the… oh you know what I mean.
I don’t care larr. They are not MY idol. I don’t even give this much attention to MI. If they chose contestants as talented as Elliot or Mandisa then maybe people would pay more attention to MI kan?
Today at work, they had an Employee & Manager of the Month Award thingy, May - Birthday Celebrations and some other things I couldn’t remember. I was never at this kind of thing. At first I find it quite interesting but soon after I arrived, I couldn’t wait to go back to my table. It was hot and I was standing there like an idiot. I didn’t know what to do or what to expect. All I did was standing there, smiling, nodding my head acknowledging the other people and clapping my hands whenever necessary. Oh well, at least I managed to grab a Lebanese kebab and a glass of Teh Tarik.
Second week is almost over and I still find it difficult to blend in. I hate the first month of work. I tried to joke around and relax a bit with everyone but somehow it feels like I am not getting a positive response from them. Too much sarcasm in my voice? Not enough dirty talk? I am smiling too much? Hey, cut me some slack larr. Get to know me a little better then you’ll know what fun I can be. Please? So sad kan?
I am so used to be around friends it’s not easy being the new girl.
Was I like that with the freshies in the office before? I like to think not. HA. It’s Karma biting me in the arse again huh?
Dang. Though I have a busy day with work and baby at home, I am bored. BORED. BORED. BORED.
Dear Universe,
Please make my life a little bit more interesting. Interesting in a good way ya. I don’t need another headache in my life.
It would be superb if it has anything to do with winning the jackpot or inheritance from long lost who knows from where distant relative. Mr Perfect would be nice too, but for that, I don’t mind waiting a little bit more.
I promise to complain lesser and to appreciate the good things for all my life. In fact, I will also share it with my family, well with anyone who doesn’t annoy me that much. *wink*
Thank you.
Cheers!
Warmest Regards,
Clara

Happy(s)

I am so tired. How does the other working mother do this? (and I don’t have to worry about house chores/cooking! *tsk tsk tsk*)
Ekiel is getting better. He lost a lot of weight but he is gaining it back. He still won’t eat but now he demands for his bottle every two hours. Take your sweet time to prepare it and he’ll throw a tantrum. *sigh* Well, IT IS a sign that he is recovering so I will just take it gratefully.
Work, well it is work. I still feel out of place and no idea what I am doing or supposed to do. Maybe I am imagining it, but I swear people are talking about me and I am too snotty to even care. “Stick and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me” – Ha. We all know that is not true.
I am just not excited about work. Maybe it’s the long break. Maybe it’s the incredibly BORING task that I am forced to do. Maybe it’s the office environment. Maybe I am just plain lazy. *yawn* The corporate ladder doesn’t look so appealing at the moment but I’m sure I will have to climb it eventually. I ain’t gonna conquer no mountain. I just wanna survive this game of life.
I may change my mind in the future.
I read in the local papers how women can actually rely on their instincts when it comes to trusting men. Or something like that.
See I am not choosy/demanding. I am just avoiding disastrous mistakes. I just need to tell myself, err i meant everyone that. Hee.
Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to all mothers and mothers-to-be.
I used to think motherhood was easy.
I TAKE IT ALL BACK.
Sunday was mother’s day and all I got from my baby was him vomiting on me the whole day.
What a joy.
Oohh... & Happy Teacher's Day to all my friends who are in the teaching business (?). You know what I mean...
Cheers!

It's only Thursday
It has been A LONG WEEK and it is only Thursday. *grin* It feels long.
I finally got a job. YAYY!!! The pay sucks but I’ve withdraw my last RM in the bank. Beggars cannot be choosers. *flashbacks* Hmmm… From advertising to hotel line. I’ve gone from one hell hole to another but I think *keeping my fingers crossed* it will not be THAT bad. I just have to make sure I don’t let people push me around like the last time. It’s going to be tough because everyone here is terribly good at doing that. Ha.
The past four days, I’ve been doing a lot of physical work. Nothing major like mixing cement, but more like sorting out newspaper clippings, updating the hardcopy inventories, packing press kits, carrying/delivering stuffs all over the place in my killing-me-slowly heels, faxing and photocopying. Nothing that my five years working experience hadn’t prepared me. Boring but it is work.

The lady whom I took over the position from is a sweet woman AND a potential pain in the arse. Even when I told her I knew how to operate the fax/photocopying machine, she keeps explaining it to me like I am an eight year old. After a while it becomes really really annoying - “Now you show me how I do it”. *banging my head against the fax machine*
One time when they were talking about advertisements and newspaper, I kinda interrupt by offering my opinion. I swear she just shuts down. I am not sure if she didn’t hear me, or she thinks I'm talking crazy. I take it as being RUDE. I know I am the new staff but hey I know what I am talking about. Oh well, if the ad goes wrong again (I secretly wish it would – I am evil aren’t I?) she is the one responsible. And I couldn’t believe she turned down a free replacement advertisement because it was too much work!!! What is wrong with all these people??? She thinks free advertisement just fall from the sky ka?
*sigh* It’s still too early to be complaining this much yet I have so SO much more to complain. If before I wasn’t sure it was a good idea to accept the offer, now I am convinced it will not be easy. How do I fit in without attracting too much attention/causing a stir? I just hope I have enough patience to learn what I need to know so I wouldn’t need to depend on these people. Btw, I overheard them saying I look weird – not Chinese nor Kadazan. *LOL* Does it matter?
My baby didn’t appreciate being left behind but he enjoys the car ride more (when my dad sends me to work). When they come to pick me in the evening, he’ll give me this “Who are you?” look before giving me his sweetest smile and comes to me to “manja” when he realize it’s me. I do miss him, but I do enjoy working and even the pathetic pay.
He is now so sick; he is like a helpless pup. He whimpers in his croaky voice and wants attention all the time. The doctor suspects he has asthma but he didn’t confirm nor deny it and my mom forgot to ask. My poor baby. It breaks my heart to see him like that especially when he has to fight for his breath. He no longer has fever, but his cough and short breaths are still there.
It’s hard. Mannn... I have to work this Saturday. Dang.

Dang.

oh please tell me...
I found an interesting game in some chick’s blog. I used to play this game with my girl friends. Hee. Sometimes it’s very true/accurate. Maybe it’s coincidence. Maybe it was signs sent by the universe. :D either way, it is fun. What you do is set your MP3 player on shuffle and ask it (rather like a magic 8 ball with multiple-word answers) the following questions. As each question comes up, you read the next song title, which will be your answer.
1. How does the world see me?
Stickwitu – PCD [the world loves me? *tear tear* well don’t stick too close ya. I need my space]

fair or unfair
If life is fair, then everyone would be too godamn happy. The world doesn’t need many happy people. For that reason, some of us go through a shitty life so we could be a freaking moral story to others so they could live our happily ever after.
Some are the heir to unbelievable fortunes while some comes into hardship that haunts my so-called perfect world. How does the universe decide? Who gets what? Is it fate? Was our life already written even before we were born? Was it a simple game of “rock, paper and scissor”? Is our life the result of every decision/action we make? Does luck have anything to do with anything? Is karma really about what goes around comes around?
Many of us are romantic fools who put our whole entire being to fate. It gives some sort of comfort to know that we are not in control of our life, and most importantly the luxury to blame something/someone when everything goes wrong. Though it is very handy in dealing with certain unwanted questions, there’s got to be more that just living the life of a written script. Or in my case; a badly written script.
There are those who hold their own destiny and are driven by what I would describe as unnatural willpower. Unnatural because it is foreign to me - I could however fake it when necessary. The determination to improve their life is admirable and it should be encouraged. ENCOURAGED not shoved down my throat. Snake lured Eve with the forbidden fruit. Get it? The world would have lesser problems if the snake shoved the apple down Eve’s throat.
Maybe I am expecting too much from the world & everybody else. That would very much explain the constant bummer. Maybe the day I realized the world was bigger than my built-in comfort zone, I got lost. Maybe the day I decided I wasn’t going to let FATE get to me, I made a bad decision. Maybe my immorality and malicious hypocrisy is getting back at me.
It doesn’t matter what or how life/the universe work I supposed. You could look for the answers in books, places or bad habits. At the end of the day, it’s what YOU want to believe. I know this. Yet I still feel the need to question and challenge, well not so much on the challenge bit but more blaming. I am just sorry some people do not understand this and have the need to shove (again with shoving) their belief on me.
I believe what goes around, comes around. I do try to be nice to everybody even when certain people treat me like s***. Let’s not forget how the world gave me a peek/taste of fairytales only to take it back before I could hold on to it.
I don’t know nor will I ever understand this. The world has become a scary place to live in. People have become unpredictable. Every one is unhappy with something/someone. Remember what I wrote earlier, those people are my moral stories. To be grateful with what I have. I may sound selfish, but that is the sad reality.

cooking for seven
Been thinking and planning what to get my parents for their 29th wedding anniversary. 29 years of “for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish” *clap clap clap*
When you’re… well if you’re me, you would have to think creatively how to make it a joyous occasion. Since I couldn’t afford anything, and my other siblings are U-S-E-L-E-S-S, I decided to cook them a nice dinner.
I am not a big fa
n of cooking. I could however prepare edible dishes without causing any casualties. You don’t have to be a genius to learn how to cook. Anyone who can read and understand instructions can cook. So, if you say you can’t cook, you’re just being lazy. Like me. The only difference between us and professional chefs are, we are not as passionate when it comes to cooking. We like eating better. Btw, Mom, cooking skill is NOT a thing every guy looks for in a woman. Ha.
You could get a little creative by replacing or make do with certain ingredients. Just let your taste bud do the magic. Chances are, if it tastes good to you, it will taste good to other people too. Of course, everyone is a critic and there are a few who will shamelessly complain a little too loud. My suggestion is to never cook for this people even when the pork chops are flying.
My mom developed protein allergies about ten years ago and it is a challenge to find dishes that my mom could eat. No dairy. No legumes. No seafood. No eggs. She’s also allergic to a long list of stuff. Something to do with her hormones. It’s not easy for her because she has to give up all her favorite food and other things. When she goes out to functions, she couldn’t eat anything because some people are just insensitive to her problem. She has to be on medication all the time and sometimes even that doesn’t help. All those medication will effect on her in the long run. *sigh*
Anyway, did some research on the internet and I found out there are so many substitutes for things that my mom couldn’t consume. Thank goodness for that. I didn’t know nor would I ever imagine you could use a banana or water + baking soda + oil to replace an egg in a cake recipe. Hee. Anyway, I told her about this and she was skeptical but very very excited. My mom has been craving for cakes for the past ten years!
I just hope I won’t screw everything up.

job hunting
I am not gonna pretend I am not annoyed because I AM SO PISSED OFF. *sigh*
One terrible interview after another is just too much. There’s a reason why we make appointments. There’s another reason why secretaries are hired. TO MAKE THOSE DAMN APPOINTMENTS! I’ve wasted a lot of time WAITING and to be sent home because the manager “suddenly” had an urgent meeting she/he needed to attend. I am not deaf you know. I could hear you panicking when you realized you screw up.
Maybe it’s just me. Maybe it’s bad luck. Maybe I am cursed forever by some idiot for whatever reason. Ha.
It’s ridiculous how some of these people/organizations work. Here’s a story. A well known developer in town called me for an interview for an Admin Officer. I went and met the HR Manager. She thought I’d be more useful in a different position (Secretary) after she read my resume because of my advertising background. According to her, the secretary deals a lot with proof reading, advertisements, making contacts with the government agencies. I thought, yeah I could do all that. She told me to go home and wait for her call for the next interview appointment with her boss.
She called me up the next day and told me to come and see her boss. So I went. Waited for one hour before she told me to go home and wait for her call again because the boss had a “sudden” meeting. Then she called and set another appointment. I again drag myself. Met the Executive Director and she was talking about a totally different job scope for the Secretary position. She then told me I got the job and I was supposed to see the GM. So I did. That is when I wanted to strangle someone.
The GM told me he needed a Secretary who could take minutes and I don’t have that experience. He also said he needed someone who’s tough and willing to work hard. He said I am more suitable in the Multimedia Department because of my writing experience. He then said but he doesn’t know if I could write. I may not be able to. He then told me to do a sample of their company profile (five pages) and also a sample of minute writing and to come back in two days. He was rude and obnoxious. Before I could explain myself, he already made assumptions. I hate that. Really hate that. I didn’t apply for the Secretary post. Your HR manager gave me that position you idiot. Manager or no manager, you have to learn how to communicate effectively!!!

I don’t know about other people, but to me it’s just plain unreasonable. If the managerial people could communicate properly and understand the work scope of their employees, then maybe their employees would be more committed and loyal to the company. Isn’t it a bad sign when the staffs were bitching about the bosses even with me in the room? Hee.
I decided to forget about this job. I’m sure there’ll be other opportunities.
The tale of the Anchovies

About 2 weeks ago at the wet market in town.
Mom: I bought anchovies to mix in Ekiel’s porridge. Remember to cook them.
Me: Mmmm
My mind: Why did I leave the house? Mannn… it’s so hot! Water! I need Water! Oohhh, is that corn in cup? I want corn in cup!
Today.
Mom: When are you going to cook those anchovies? It has been two weeks. You want to wait until goes off to college? Clara? Are you listening to me? Ekiel, look at your mommy. She’s such a pig.Me: Fine. I’ll do it now. No need name calling in front of the baby *rolling eyes*
My mind: ZZzzzz
Mom: Wash it then let it dry. Then fry them until their crispy. Then you blender them finely.
Me: I know. I know.
My mind: Run them under the tap. Fry for a while. Blender.
Mom: Make sure you take the foreign thing out.
Me: What foreign thing? They’re anchovies. Tiny fishes. What foreign thing?
My mind: Foreign? Like immigrants? Hahaha. Mannn… It’s so warm in here.
Mom: There can be other kind of fishes or tiny rocks. You have to take them out.
Me: If we just fry and blender them, it wouldn’t make any difference.
My mind: Blender them! Blender them!
Mom: You can’t do that.
Me: Why not? They’re seafood.
My mind: Seafood? I want crabs. Crabs. Crabs.
Mom: Once, someone died because there was a baby blowfish in the anchovies. You don’t want that to happen do you?Me: (No replies)
My mind: Ohhh baby blowfish. Where? Where?
Me: Mom, there’s no baby blowfish though I did find something else. *grinning*
My mind: Squish it. Squish it.
Mom: I don’t want to know. Go fry it until it’s crispy. CRISPY.
Me: I’m gonna take a picture first.
My mind: I am bored. I wonder what’s on TV now.
Mom: Picture? Why? Don’t you have better… never mind. I don’t want to know. Just finish it.
Mom: Ekiel, you poor poor baby. Your mommy is acting like a lunatic idiot. Don’t worry, your grandmamma will take care of you when your mom is in a nut house.
Me: I could hear you mom!
My mind: I should blog this!
